MUSICIAN OF THE MONTH

PJ NEUFELD-harmonicat!
| PJ was born and raised on a farm in the
Griswold area where he heard his cousin playing a harmonica one day when he was 9 yrs old.
Not long afterwards he was hurt in a farm accident and while in hospital his Dad
asked him what he would like to pass the time. He asked for a harmonica he'd seen in
the window of the local hardware store. He taught himself to play it and now owns over 200
of the instruments. He has the longest one in the world at 23inches and the smallest one
at 1 inch. He was featured in an article in the ON! Brandon magazine a few years ago and quote from that article states "he has a harmonice for every key, every occasion, every song and every mood" PJ himself is quoted as saying "I never run out of air" PJ is now a widower with 5 grown children. His eldest not only plays a variety of instruments but also teaches guitar in 100Mile House, BC PJ can be seen at many special events around Westman with his one-man band consisting of 3 amps, a bass harmonica, a treble harmonica and a delay amp. He has his own recording studio and has 6 CD's and 6 cassettes available. He also has a website at http://www.harmonicafavourites.com He is a welcome addition to our list of Musicians of the Month and its a joyful experience to hear the mournful sound of his harmonicas.
