Les was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario but moved to Manitoba as an infant.  He lost his father in an accident and his Mom remarried. He credits his stepfather with instilling a love of music and being his inspiration. 

Les was raised and schooled in Elphinstone, MB, moving to Brandon to live out his adult life.  He is married to wife, Lil, for 51 years.

Together they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.  They are snowbirds who spend every winter in Texas where Les plays with a band called "The Gateway Band".

He began playing at about 19 years of age but says he was not really seriously into music at that age.  Now he plays a 12 string acoustic as well as a 6 string acoustic.  He claims he plays no other instruments but by the twinkle in his eye, one would guess that he dabbles...

He says of the Jams " A great bunch of people. If I were here all winter, I would be at every jam.  I'll be back at the end of March".   We are looking forward to his return.
