MUSICIAN OF THE MONTH

Elger Heath
Elger grew up in in Broomhill, MB which he says you would miss if you blinked so he names Reston as his hometown.
He has 7 siblings but only his Dad and Uncles are musically inclined. Elger credits his Uncle Nick with instilling in him a love of
country music. He started playing at the age of eleven but says he WANTED to play while still in the womb LOL
Elger is well versed in guitar, mandolin, Hawaiian guitar and autoharp but also admits to playing trumpet and tuba in high school.
Elger is affectionately known around the Jams as our "Chairman" because he does not use a guitar strap, hence he pulls up a chair and rests one foot
on it to stabilize his guitar on his knee.
He also is a frequent contributor to both the website with his informative "Wires N Woods" column and to the newsletter with his "Chord of the Month"
The Jams are fortunate to have such a versatile and willing volunteer. He frequently displays some awesome graphics abilities in the form of posters and advertising
paraphernalia.
Elger is looking forward to the future since he recently realized that 2 of his nephews are picking up the love of country music with guitar and vocals and he loves to sit
and play with them when he is able to visit.
He wants everyone to feel free to play with him. He likes to teach and mentor and is open to different styles of music. He frequently goes without sleep just so he can
play and is often seen hauling his music and his guitar to work on a night shift.
